I started Little Vancouver because finding something to do with children can turn into a project of its own. A place can look lovely, but I still want to know whether it fits their ages, what it costs, how to get there and what happens if it rains.
I want this to be the kind of guide I’d send another parent: a few good choices, the useful details, and a clear link to the people running the activity. Vancouver is our starting point, with room for a good day out across the region.
Some places may become family favourites. Others are researched suggestions. I’ll make that distinction clear, and I won’t call something personally tested unless we’ve actually been.
How each outing earns a place
We check public facts against official venue and organizer pages, record the check date and set a review limit. Date-specific events are separate from recurring places. Expired coverage disappears from the directory.
The opening shortlist is our editorial choice of timely, distinctive family experiences across Vancouver and selected regional destinations, including free and paid outings. We consider what children can do, why this weekend matters, journey and cost, and variety. It is not a popularity ranking. Free choices follow, with festivals, nature and active play prioritized. Library sessions remain in the searchable directory rather than homepage previews. New discovery starts with Vancouver & nearby: Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, New Westminster and Richmond, including Steveston. Explicit city choices stay in that city. The separate Nearby option includes Burnaby, North Vancouver, New Westminster and Richmond. Other cities appear when a special event or seasonal outing makes the trip worthwhile. Use All outings to explore the full collection, or choose Browse by city. Discovery starts with six ranked matches and Show more; every eligible result remains reachable. We do not promise complete coverage of every city. Within each view, timing and family usefulness decide the order. Familiar recurring places come afterwards, including a rain backup. Age fit and suggested pace are editorial guidance.
Where a price, child rule, closing time or availability is unclear, the guide says so. Booking stays with the operator. Send a correction if a detail has changed.
THE LITTLE VANCOUVER WEEKEND LETTER
A little help before the weekend begins.
I’m preparing one free weekly email with timely Vancouver events, free choices, a nearby discovery, and a rain plan. Each choice will include age guidance, cost, booking notes and a link to the full visit details.
Four seasonal previews a year are planned too, so families can spot openings, final weekends and things worth booking early.
Email delivery is not open yet. Bookmark the guide for now.
Share an outing, suggest a guide, ask about a partnership, or flag a detail that needs correcting. Please do not send children’s names, exact addresses or sensitive information.
Privacy, in plain language
Browsing and shortlisting need no account or email. The optional family admission settings stay in page memory and are not sent with your shortlist. Your shortlist is kept in a link containing activity IDs, the selected guide area and an optional visit date. Anyone with that link can see those choices. Keep the link if you want to return to it.
The optional feedback form stores the details you submit in our private request queue so the owner can review and respond. Feedback does not require an email. We do not sell form data or add you to a marketing list. The owner manually removes identifiable submissions within 30 days of receipt; there is no automated deletion timer. To ask for earlier deletion or correction, choose “Privacy request” above and provide your reference and original contact email, not family details.
Cloudflare uses the __cf_bm security cookie to help protect this site from bots; it expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. The hosting platform may process technical logs to operate and secure the site. These functions are separate from optional analytics.
Google Analytics is optional on littlevancouver.ca. It loads only after you choose “Accept analytics”. Google receives cookie identifiers, clean public page addresses and titles, visit/session and engagement information, and browser, device and approximate location information. We exclude search text, family-filter details, shortlists, visit dates, form contents, URL queries and fragments, and referring-page addresses. We have not added advertising, Google Signals, User-ID or personalization.
Google processes the connection’s IP address to provide and secure its service and estimate location. Google says it discards raw IP addresses after processing. Data may be processed outside Canada. See how Google uses information from sites. Analytics is not anonymous: cookie identifiers can distinguish returning browsers. Optional statistics exclude visitors who reject or block analytics.
Your analytics choice is saved in this browser’s local storage as lv-analytics-consent for 90 days. Analytics cookies use the lv_ga prefix, with a 90-day lifetime that browsing does not renew. You can reject and keep using the entire guide. To withdraw, open “Cookies & privacy” in the footer and choose “Reject analytics”. This stops analytics, clears our analytics cookies and reloads the page; it does not retract information already sent. Your shortlist link and unrelated preferences remain. For a privacy request, use the feedback form above.
Do not enter children’s personal information in the feedback form or use it for emergencies or time-critical bookings.
Age fit and suggested duration are editorial guidance. Free entry does not include food, travel, parking or optional attractions. “Review by” is our editorial coverage limit, not a venue closure. Always check the official page before leaving. No sponsorships or affiliate links in this edition.
About the photographs & image credits
Photographs include venue views, archive events and clearly labelled illustrative images, not live pictures of this week’s activities. Park photographs show the setting rather than a particular market or play session. Images are cropped in the layout.
The apple, music, autumn-fair, Halloween gateway, cardboard-play, circus and park-train artwork are original AI-assisted illustrations for Little Vancouver. They do not depict an actual venue or event. Listings without a checked photo or their own artwork use our original category illustrations, visibly labelled on each card. These symbolic scenes do not show the advertised venue, event, facilities or equipment.
